AAU golden jubilee celebration starts

JORHAT, April 4: The Assam Agricultural University (AAU) started its golden jubilee year with a colourful procession by the faculty, staff and students of four colleges, the College of Agriculture, College of Horticulture, College of Sericulture, and College of Community Sciences, which was flag off by Dr Kamal Malla Buzarbaruah, the Vice-Chancellor of AAU from Jorhat Stadium on Tuesday. The procession depicted decorated models from the laboratory to the farming sector that have been developed at the university for the past 49 years since its inception in the year 1969. Earlier during the iugural  session, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kamal Malla Buzarbaruah congratulated the university fraternity for stepping into the 50th year. The iugural function will be held on April 17 next where Venkaiah idu, the Vice-President of India, will be present as the chief guest. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, State Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, along with Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Hitendra th Goswami and ICAR Director –General will also be present, said Dr. Ranjit Saud, the Public Relations Officer of AAU.
