AAU organizes 27th Horticultural Show and Competition

JORHAT, January 29: The Department of Horticulture of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) organized the 27th Horticultural Show and Competition at the IDA building on Wednesday.  With about 115 participants in the vegetable section, 45 in fruit section, 195 in floriculture section and another 113 participants in product sections, the Horticultural Show and Competition was represented by participants from different parts of Assam like Sibsagar, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Sarupathar and Titabor. Moreover, two nurseries (Rainbow and Prero Nursery) also joined with their exhibits.

The Horticulture Show and Competition was iugurated by Dr KM Bujarbaruah, Vice– Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University. In his iugural address, Dr Bujarbaruah emphasized the importance of such horticultural shows and competition and lauded the effort of the Horticulture Department. The welcome address was offered by the Head of the Department, Horticulture and chairperson of the show, Dr. Madhumita Choudhury Talukdar. The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by the Chief Librarian of the University, Dr.  Prab Talukdar, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Pradip Mahanta, Professor–cum–Organizing Secretary of the show. The best exhibit of the show award was bagged by Subhankar Saha, postgraduate student of the university.
