JORHAT, Feb 23: Assam Agricultural University (AAU) will tie-up with Israel for floriculture and vegetable cultivation, which Tamil-du had already started with Israel, as Israel is very keen for tie-ups and collaboration, said Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, the Vice-Chancellor of AAU during his iugural speech on the occasion of the 30th Horticulture Show and Competition organized by Department of Horticulture at AAU Jorhat campus on Thursday.
Dr Bujarbaruah said this horticulture show had a very important role and impact throughout the State as farmers from Biswath Chariali, Lakhimpur and Guwahati come and exhibit their products. Farmers from areas near the districts of Jorhat, Sivasagar and Golaghat through the Krishi Vigyan Kendra also come. He said that horticulture and its potential needed to be harnessed not only in Assam but also across the north-eastern region. The competition was held for various sections like mushroom, fruits, cut flowers, pot plants, dry plants, flower arrangement, nursery competition, jam, jelly and sweet scks based on vegetables and fruits.
