ABAA, DBHA mourn demise of prominent radio artiste

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 29: The All Bodo Artists’ Association (ABAA) and Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA) on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned radio artiste and noted Bodo folk singer Kaklal Swargiary who passed away on December 28 in Guwahati.

He was one of the most popular singers among the Bodos. His songs Besorbariao ma girdwng, Somai somai bwjwng jaharni daoraia, and Bwrsi dwima barini agwi laisari are immortal songs.

The president of ABAA, Bikash Basumatary (Laloo) and secretary of DBHA, Jogeswar Brahma said the Bodos had lost a renowned folk singer and radio artiste who had made a lot of contribution towards Bodo culture. They said Swargiary was one of the most popular figures in melody Bodo folk songs since the mid-80s as he sung many melodious songs in various audio cassettes. They also said the artists and cultural organizations would remember his creations forever. Swargiary, who hailed from Geruapara of Sarupeta in Barpeta district, had been ailing and he was admitted at a private nursing home in Guwahati. He died on December 28 at his Dhirenpara residence in Guwahati.
