Abducted IB official feared killed in Meghalaya

Guwahati, Sept 24: An assistant central intelligence officer (ACIO) of the Intelligence Bureau, kid pped by suspected A’chik Song An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) militants in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, is feared to have been killed. The IB officer, Bikash Singh (32) hailing from Pat, was abducted along with a cloth merchant Kamal Saha at gunpoint between Ampangre and Panda reserve forest yesterday. The victims were travelling in a public vehicle towards Baghmara, the district headquarters of South Garo Hills, from Rongara, he said. “By all accounts, we fear the officer has been killed. But we are yet to recover his body,” said a senior Meghalaya Police official.
