NAGAON: All 47 accused in the sensational and gruesome Abhijeet-Nilutpal lynching case of Karbi Anglong district were produced in the Nagaon Chief Judicial Magistrate court on Thursday.

According to sources, the court sent all of them back to the jail under judicial custody. The court, however, fixed December 1 as the date for a hearing of the entire case. All the accused will be produced again in the court on November 22, the sources added further. The trial for the gruesome incident was brought to Nagaon Court on September 18 from Diphu court after the constant request of the victims’ families who feared that if the trial was continued in Diphu, police, as well as others, might be influenced by some local sentiment in the entire process of trial.

Later, all 47 accused in the sensational case were shifted to Nagaon central jail. Interestingly, it was noticed on Thursday at the court premises that all the accused were brought with handcuffs which were against a recent verdict of the Supreme Court and following this, the advocate of the accused submitted an application and in response to the application also the court fixed December 1 as the date for a hearing.
