Abolish child labour: CWC chief

Itagar, May 5: A two-day campaign on child rights and other social issues sponsored by World Vision India, Subansiri ADP in collaboration with Aruchal Pradesh Women Commission started here at the Moomsie Hotel today. Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairperson Mepung Tadar while hosting the workshop highlighted various incidents and consequences of child labour and child marriage and advocated on abolishing the trend as soon as possible from the society.

She added that there are many types of child laborers which results in spoiling of a child’s carreer which, she said, could only be protected through proper awareness and education.

Terming child marriage socially evil, Tadar lamented that people do not have rights to destroy their children’s life by arranging early marriage as they might have a bright future ahead.

Aruchal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) Legal Advisor Kani da Maling speaking on the occasion briefed on domestic violence being practiced commonly in various parts of the state.

Visit to Oju Mission and Child Help Line Centre as a part of exposure tour would be conducted in the next phase of the meet.
