Absconding Accountant held as a suspect for murder of Businessman Rathore in Karbi Anglong

Bokajan: At a time when the Karbi Anglong police are struggling to lift the veil over the mystery that shrouds the aggravated murder of an established businessman Moolsingh Rathore followed by the robbery of cash and jewellery from his residence; police have arrested the absconding accountant of the businessman from his residence at Kolkata on July 8.

A team of Karbi Anglong police led by the Officer In-charge of Khatkhati Police Station arrested the third suspect Sandip Mishra from his residence at Asansol in Burdwan district of West Bengal. Earlier, Karbi Anglong police had arrested two people following the recovery of an unattended car believed to have been used by the gang of assailants to flee the spot after executing the robbery. However, nothing much seems to have moved in line and the murder cum robbery continues to remain in mystery.

Karbi Anglong police still clueless of motives behind the murder

Mishra was the accountant of the deceased businessman who had reportedly gone undercover a few weeks before the incident. Misra was involved in financial mismanagement from the account of the businessman and that of his son and had allegedly duped them of an undisclosed sum of money believed to be over 50 lakh rupees.

It is to be noted that Mishra has been arrested on charges of fraud under section 381/420/406 of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, Police are also investigating his involvement in the incident but are yet to achieve any major breakthrough in the case.

Furthermore, the failure of the police at cracking the case has generated a sense of insecurity amongst the business community and have also become a major source of embarrassment for the police department.

It may be mentioned that businessman Rathore was shot multiple times from point blank range by a gang of 6-7 armed assailants who had stormed into his residence along Assam-Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong on June 23 last. The assailants later decamped with cash and jewellery from his residence.
