ABSU and MCLA condemn attack on Dwahit Chandra Brahma

KOKRAJHAR, July 14: The Kokrajhar district committee, All Bodo Students’ Union (KDC, ABSU) on Thursday strongly condemned the attack on Dwahit Chandra Brahma on Wednesday evening near Kokrajhar town by unknown miscreants.

Dwahit Chandra Brahma, who fought in the last assembly election from 29-Kokrajhar west constituency, was on the way to Dotma in his vehicle when some unidentified gunmen with AK- 47 rifle attacked the vehicle at Chandamari near Kokrajhar town on Wednesday. Brahma fortutely escaped unhurt.

The general secretary of district committee ABSU, Nion Mashahary, said in a press release that many innocent people had been killed in BTC areas between 2008 to 2012, all because of availability of illegal arms in the region, and till today illegal arms were available in the region. He said Wednesday’s incident had revealed the truth. He appealed to the district administration to take appropriate steps to investigate the incident and p the culprits, and to take steps to seize all illegal arms in the region.

On the other hand, BTC MCLA of Dotma, Jatirindra Brahma also strongly condemned the bid on the life of Dwahit Chandra Brahma. He said the incident was unfortute as people of the district had witnessed peaceful atmosphere since a couple of months. He said some anti-social elements wanted to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere in the district. He asked the group or persons or the organizations to stay away from such crimil acts for the sake of peace and tranquility. He also urged the district administration to take appropriate measures to contain the situation.
