ABSU condemns alleged police atrocity on union workers in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, April 10: The Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU has strongly condemned the alleged inhuman act of Ritu Jyoti th, I/C of Bishmuri Police outpost who had beaten up some ABSU workers on Friday.

In a press statement, the president of the Kokrajhar district ABSU, Premjit rzary and general secretary Nion Mashahary, said the IC of Bismuri police outpost had allegedly harassed ABSU workers in an aggressive manner which was not acceptable.  They said on April 8 at about 7:30 pm Mahim Borgoyary, Pakan rzary, Jwngma Basumatary, Nijwm rzary, Niju Kr. Basumatary and Gwjwnglai Basumatary, all ABSU workers, were going to 9 No. Mahendrapur village on bikes to inform the gaonbura about the public meeting called on April 9 where they met police patrolling team of Bishmuri police outpost led by Ritu Jyoti th, I/C, Bishmuri outpost, at Mohal Sariali.  They said the police team stopped them and asked where they were going to. They replied that they were going to 9 no. Mahendrapur village to inform the gaonbura about the public meeting called on April 9. Again they asked them which party they supported. They replied that they were the supporters of UPP and Congress party. After this reply, the police team allegedly started to beat them, injuring all of them grievously.

ABSU leaders said the injured student activists were under treatment. They said the police harassed them ippropriately in an aggressive manner which was not tolerable. They said the ABSU was one of the major organizations supporting the UPP and Congress candidates and had been doing a lot of work in support of UPP and Congress candidates. The district ABSU leaders urged the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Kokrajhar to take appropriate measures against the erring I/C of Bismuri police outpost.
