ABSU condemns terror attack in Pakistan's Bacha Khan University

KOKRAJHAR, January 20: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the terrorist attack in Bacha Khan University, Peshawar, Pakistan today noon and strongly condemned it.

In a press statement, ABSU vice-president Dipen Boro and general secretary Lawrence Islary said the attack was an act of cowardice and shameful on the student community who are innocent and ignorant. They said such act of brutality could not be tolerated by the world. The union appealed to stand united in this critical period and come forward to fight against terrorism and such kind of attacks on innocent students. The union prayed for the departed souls who lost their valuable lives.

A candlelight procession has been organized in all the district headquarters for peace and in memory of the innocent students. The union also expressed its deep sorrow on the suicide of the Dalit student Rohit Vemula of Hyderabad University on January 17 after the university allegedly initiated discipliry action, expulsion from the university against him and a few colleagues for their involvement in student politics. The union condemned such an act of intolerance and demanded high-level enquiry into the incident.
