ABSU flays 'farcical attitude' of education department

From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, November 9: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has expressed resentment over the conduct of the tiol Means-cum-Merit Scholarship selection written examition held on Sunday at Dhaligaon High School, Chirang, consisting of the three districts Chirang, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar.

In a press statement of the ABSU issued by the general secretary Lawrence Islary and secretary Kwrwmdao Wary, it was stated that the written examition was condemble as the examition which was conducted by the State Education department, ‘neglected’ the Bodo medium students.  It further stated that the examition was held only in English and Assamese which has deprived the Bodo medium students. This showed the education department’s alleged farcical attitude towards the welfare of the Bodo medium students. The written examition was to be conducted at every district headquarters but it was held only in one district which caused harassment to the students of Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar districts.

The student leaders said this issue was brought to the knowledge of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi by the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) in the meeting held on September 7 and again with the Principal Secretary of Education to the Chief Minister on the same issue on September 9, but so far the demand for inclusion of Bodo medium paper in this tiol Means-cum-Merit Scholarship examition has not been fulfilled.
