ABSU observes 26th death anniversary of Bodofa UN Brahma

KOKRAJHAR, May 2: The 26th death anniversary of ‘Bodofa’ Upendra th Brahma, who is fondly regarded as ‘Father of the Bodos’, was observed at Thulungapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar with a day-long programme on Sunday.
As part of the programme, ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary hoisted the organizatiol flag at half-mast followed by floral tribute by Bodofa’s elder brother Someswar Brahma.
Recalling the contributions of Upendrath Brahma, ABSU general secretary said, “Bodofa, as a student leader, had brought about remarkable changes in the lives of the downtrodden people through the Bodoland movement.” He said that Bodofa was a leader not only for Bodos but also for the students and the underprivileged.
Rwngwra rzary, chairman of Bodofa Upendra th Brahma Trust (UNBT), said that the trust had been trying to establish the thoughts and philosophy of UN Brahma in the tion as well as to the world. “The thoughts and philosophy of student leader Upendra th Brahma has brought a revolution amongst the down trodden people for their rights to live with dignity and self determition,” he said. He hoped that the BTC administration would extend fincial help to keep the thoughts and philosophy of Bodofa UN Brahma alive.
Daneswar Goyary, Executive Member of the BTC, said that the council administration had been trying to keep alive the thoughts and philosophy of Upendra th Brahma.
Among those who were present included former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTC MCLA Rwngwra rzary, local MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC Executive Member Dhaneswar Goyary and leaders of Bodo Sahitya Sabha and ABSU.
