ACA disqualifies four teams

GUWAHATI, May 8:  Assam Cricket Association has disqualified four teams from the ongoing Umananda Bora U-13 Inter District Cricket tournament for filling overage players in their teams. The four disqualified teams are Golaghat, Morigaon, Margherita and Dhemaji.

Disclosing the news to the media the Assistant Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Sujit Choudhury today said that all the participating teams were advised well before the tournament to take measures so that the overage players are not included in the squad. But unfortunately there were four teams in the competition who filed over age players and it was detected after proper medical tests.

 “Hence we have decided to disqualify all four teams-Golaghat, Morigaon, Margherita and Dhemaji, from the competition this year. The teams, who had lost against them, will get the chance to move into the next round”, said Choudhury.

Meanwhile Udalguri, Kokrajhar, Titabor and Golaghat won their respective matches in the Umananda Bora U-13 Inter District Cricket championship here today. However Golaghat had to bow out from the competition because of filing over age players. Udalguri defeated Bajali by three wickets while Kokrajhar got walk over against Dima Hasao. The venue of both the matches was ACA stadium, Barsapara. Titabar, playing with only seven players at the NFRSA Stadium, defeated Karimganj by four wickets.
