ACA suggest District Associations to develop grounds

GUWAHATI, April 22: Assam Cricket Association, with an aim to promote cricket in every nook and corner of the state, has suggested the District Association to develop exclusive cricket ground in their respective areas. The association will also try to provide necessary financial helps in this regard if the ground is used for only cricket purpose.

The suggestion came in the governing body meeting of the Assam Cricket Association which was held today at Golaghat. Discussion on several subjects including cricket development and finance, were held in the meeting. A discussion on the date of the next AGM of ACA was also held but no date was finalized. However it was learnt that the next AGM of the association would likely to be held within next two months.

Talking to The Sentinel the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Pradip Buragohain said, “Several subjects were placed in the meeting which was presided over by vice president Ramen Dutta. The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and we received some good suggestions from different quarters on the development of cricket in the state.”

Buragohain also said that special emphasize will now be given to develop exclusive cricket ground in the different parts of the State, “We need sufficient number of grounds in the state. So in the meeting we advised the different District Association to develop cricket ground in their localities.  ACA will try to arrange necessary financial helps to those associations who will provide at least 35 bighas of land for an exclusive cricket ground. The District Associations can submit their proposal by May 5.”

The financial report of the previous year was also placed in the meeting for approval.
