ACMS-CCPA agreement copies burnt by AASAA activists

MARGHERITA, March 21: Activists of All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA), Margherita regiol committee on Saturday burnt the copies of the agreement signed between ACMS and CCPA few days ago.

AASAA activists burnt the agreement copies in front of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) Margherita branch office. AASAA has demanded that the wages of tea garden workers should be increased to Rs 330 but some days ago ACMS and CCPA signed an agreement which AASAA have refused to follow.

More than 50 members of AASAA Margherita regiol committee gathered in front of ACMS Margherita branch office and burnt the agreement copies signed between ACMS and CCPA. Ramanus Lakra, president of AASAA Margherita regiol committee, told this correspondent that ACMS had been exploiting innocent tea labourers and now it was entering into deals with CCPA and the magement of tea industries of Assam. Lakra said that if the tea companies did not increase the wages to Rs 330 then in the coming days they would intensify their agitation.
