ACMS stages protest

From a Correspondent

Joysagar, Oct 26: Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) Sori district committee staged a protest in support of their demands on Wednesday in front of the main gate of the Tingalibam Tea Estate. Hundreds of tea garden workers gathered in front of the garden head office and protested. ACMS leaders alleged that the garden authorities had not issued regular weekly ration to the labourers for last three months for which their families were facing hardships. Besides, garden authorities are also not releasing the fortnightly wages of the labourers properly. Moreover, due to negligence of  the garden authorities, the labourers have to use impure water and live in an unhygienic atmosphere. ACMS also alleged that the garden authorities have failed to provide good medical facilities to the labourers, as per the guidelines of the Assam Government and Assam Labour Welfare Law. The Tingalibam Tea Estate in Charaidew district is owned by Bhaskar Tea Co. Ltd. The ACMS leaders accused the garden authorities of exploiting the labourers. Later they submitted a memorandum separately to the garden higher authorities and also to the Charaidew SDO.
