Action against SHG for 'misusing' Ajmal brand

HOJAI, May 3: Samsul Hoque, president of a self-help group (SHG) was sent to jail for allegedly illegally manufacturing and selling tobacco leaves under Ajmal me and logo, under Murajhar Police in gaon district.

The brand me and logo of Ajmal was misused by the SHG Bharat Bijay Atma Sahayak Gut located at Nilbagan of Hojai subdivision in gaon district. The SHG took undue advantage of the goodwill of the brand and sold tobacco leaves in an uuthorized manner, thereby flouting all the ethics of business.

A cheating case under section 420 of IPC  and a case of misuse of a registered trade  under section 103/ &104 of Indian Trade Marks Act,1999 has been registered against  all the members of the said SHG at Murajhar Police station. Meanwhile the president of the SHG, Samsul Hoque was arrested and sent to jail. Further legal action has been initiated against all the persons involved.
