ADC by-polls: BJP optimistic about making mark

STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Dec 3: The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) expressed optimism that the party will make a mark in the upcoming by-elections to the two Autonomous Districts in the state.  The BJP has fielded candidates to all the six seats in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the lone seat to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).

President of the state unit of the BJP Shibun Lyngdoh said, “Although the elections will be a tight one for the party, we are confident that we will fare well in the elections. Our campaign indicates that if not all the seats we will bag three to four seats.”

His confidence stems from the fact that the people have realized the issues to be taken up by the party and the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP led government at the Centre.

Elections to the two autonomous district councils are slated for December 13.
