ADC members quits Congress

FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
IMPHAL, March 31: Two elected members of the Autonomous District Council, Ukhrul district, have tendered their resigtion from the primary membership of the Congress accusing the party of being insensitive to the aspirations of the tribals. It may be recalled that the ADC elections will be held in April. Since the Congress is a sinking ship throughout the State the desertion by members are not surprising. The ADC members of the district are Peter Kamara and K. okahao. The elected ADC members have been under threat from some armed groups for contesting the last elections in defiance of the ban order.  Already one ASDC member was assassited in Ukhrul district. All others had been lodged in the ADC House located in Imphal. They have not been able to venture out without armed policemen. Indications are that more Congress ADC members may tender resigtion in the coming days since nobody is going to contest the elections in this party ticket.
