Additional National Register of Citizens (NRC) Draft List On June 26

GUWAHATI: The authorities of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will publish an additional draft list on June 26.

The additional NRC draft list will contain the names of applicants who were included in the complete draft published on July 30 in 2018, but were later found to be ineligible for inclusion in the citizens’ register during suo motu verification done by the NRC authorities.

The suo motu verification was done as per Section 4 (3) of the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003.

The additional National Register of Citizens draft list will contain names of persons found ineligible due to their status such as DV (Doubtful Voter) or DF (Declared Foreigner) or PFT (persons with cases pending at Foreigners Tribunals) or their descendants, discovered after publication of the complete draft National Register of Citizens in 2018.

The list will also include names of persons found ineligible during hearings held for disposal of claims and objections.

Individuals can view the additional draft list at the designated National Register of Citizens Seva Kendras (NSK), offices of deputy commissioners, SDOs (Civil) and Circle Officers across the State.

For online checking of names, one has to click the Complete Draft NRC viewing link in the National Register of Citizens website www.nrcassam.nic.in

Those persons whose draft status will change to exclusion in the Additional List will be highlighted in the NRC website as “Excluded in Additional List”. Those persons already included in the complete draft NRC published last year and not getting affected by the ‘Additional List’ will continue to be displayed as before.

Those persons who will be excluded will be informed individually through Letters of Information (LOI). Such letters will be delivered at their residential addresses. Such persons will have the opportunity to file their claims at the designated NSKs within July 11, 2019. Their Claims will be disposed thereafter before publication of the final NRC on July 31, 2019.

The complete draft National Register of Citizens enrolled the names of 2, 89, 83,677 out of 3, 29,91, 384, applicants. Of around 40.07 lakh applicants who were found ineligible to be included in the complete draft published last year, nearly 36.2 lakh have filed claims for inclusion in the final NRC. Around two lakh objections were also filed against inclusion of “ineligible” persons in the complete draft NRC. The exercise of hearing claims and objections is almost over.
