ADE slams police for high handedness

SHILLONG, March 28: The Associaion for Democracy and Empowernment  (ADE) cried foul by accusing the police for indulging in high handedness against people who raise human rights issues in Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

ADE Apex Committee has called a 12-hour bandh (5am -5pm) in the whole of Garo Hills on the 31/03/2015.

But before the members could disperse, some police/SWAT personnel trespassed and entered the office of the Association for Democracy and Empowerment at Araimile, Tura and vandalized the whole office. They also arrested one of its members without any valid reason, informed a source.

There were allegations of assault and arrest of members belonging to different organizations.
