ADF cadre apprehended

KOKRAJHAR, September 29: On getting a special input about the hideout of few armed cadres of the Adivashi Dragon Fighter (ADF), a team of officers and troops of 16th Bn SSB, Ranighuli launched a joint operation against the militant outfit in Sidli of Chirang district on Sunday and apprehended a cadre. The team of the operation was led A.K.C Singh, Comdt. 16th Bn SSB, comprising of ASI/GD -01, and 13 others.

Sources said on reaching the Sidli Police Station they picked up the police team and thereafter proceeded to village Batabari where the suspected armed cadres of the ADF were reported to be hiding. Since they identified the pin-point location of the hideout of the ADF cadre, conducted search operation in the house of Mangal Tudu, resident of Batabari, Nimagaon, P/S-Sidli, Dist-Chirang, and apprehended Mangal Murmu, alias Lassan (26), son of Sarkar Murmu of Basbari in Kokrajhar district. They recovered one live round of 9mm pistol and four mobile phones.

Habel Murmu, (ADF C-N-C), who was arrested by the Kokrajhar Police and now out on bail,  had disclosed the address of these cadres and said that the cadres were frustrated and willing to surrender but the government was not accepting their surrender after the December 23, 2014 carge. At present the cadres were facing problems due to lack of fund and poor arms and ammunition and they were collecting more fund and arms and ammunition from the businessmen and by smuggling timber from the forest. He disclosed the mes of two timber smugglers - Bullet Murmu (26) and  Dabla Basumatary.
