Adhir Roy dead

GUWAHATI, May 6: Former footballer Adhir Roy expired today after prolonged illness. He was 82 years old.  Roy, who was once the regular member of Mahara club and state squad in the Santosh Trophy, had been suffering from cancer for the last several months. The former NF Railway employee started his football career with gaon Sporting Union and later shifted to Guwahati to play for Mahara club in 1957. Roy collected his NIS diploma in 1965 and thereafter produced many top class footballers in the state. Assam Football Association and Gauhati Sports Association condoled the death of Roy.
