Adi-Mising unification: Taloh for consensus

Itagar, April 18: Aruchal Pradesh Education Minister Tapang Taloh emphasized on the need of a consensus from different sections of both the communities on the issue of reunification of Adi and Mising people living in Aruchal Pradesh and bordering Assam.

Taloh, who was speaking at the iugural programme of Adi-Mising 2nd General Conference at Oyan village in East Siang on Friday, suggested the functiories of Adi-Mising Kebang to bring all sections of both the communities under their umbrella through proper mobilization, an official communiqué said here today. The minister supported the development of an office headquarters of Adi Mising Kebang at interstate boundary area and assured his support for its development. "I will discuss the issue with all Adi MLAs of the state and request them to contribute for development of the head office of Adi-Mising Kebang. I will also approach Chief Minister bam Tuki for some contributions towards Adi Mising Kebang for development of its office set up", said Taloh.

Earlier, retired IAS officer Oshong Ering briefed the origin and evolution of the Adis, including the present Misings. He stressed on development of Adi-Mising language through proper research and documentation.

Among others, local MLA Tatung Jamoh, East Siang ZPC Kaling Dai, Pasighat Chief Municipal Councilor, Denong Tamuk and Mising organisations leaders of Assam also spoke in favour of Adi Mising reunification.

The 3-day general conference cum cultural event includes exhibition and sale of indigenous handlooms and handicrafts products and food mela, the communiqué added.
