AdiSU slams power department

Itagar, April 28: The Adi Students Union (AdiSU) has alleged that msai power department is using live tree instead of electric pole to supply electricity in the area. The union in a statement today claimed that electricity supply to 300 households in 4 villages mely New Jengthu, Doneko, Mengkeng I and Mengkeng II under msai district is done using live tree. “The department is regularly collecting bill from the respective consumers. The electric connection was officially provided to the villagers by the department. But when we lodged complaint, the assistant engineer AE feinted ignorance about use of live tree,” stated AdiSU. Further union alleged that power department has violated the basic safety norms of Electricity Safety Regulations. They also added that crores of money is being spent for electricity schemes but still scerio in rural areas of msai district has not improved.
