Adivasi Rights Day celebrated

Bongaigaon, Nov 24 : Adivasi Rights Day was celebrated with a day long programme in Sundari area of Chirang district on Friday. “It has been 10 long years of the Beltola incident, but Laxmi Orang is yet to get justice. The political parties are playing sty political game,” said Birsing Munda, Secretary of Adivasi tiol Convention. The day, in memory of Beltola incident is celebrated every year as ‘Adivasi Rights Day’.

 Addressing the mass gathering, President of All Adivasi Students’ Association Pradip g said that BJP Government had betrayed Adivasi people. “Though Adivasi people in other states were given ST status but yet Adivasis of Assam are seeking ST status. We shall be compelled to adopt the path of massive democratic agitation in coming days if our demands are not fulfilled immediately,” he said. Thousands of people gathered today in this programme.
