Administration keeping vigil on commul groups'

Joysagar, Oct 30:  Sivasagar district administration and police are maintaining sharp vigil on some commul groups who are active in Upper Assam and Sivasagar district. Some groups are trying to create social disturbance and violence regarding the NRC issue. The NRC will come out on time following the Supreme Court’s direction and if someone does not find his or his family members’ mes in the NRC, there will be a process to apply after following due rules. Therefore, people should not fear and should not listen to doubtful remarks about the NRC without any legal notification from government authorities, said Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner N Konwar at a press meet held in Sukapha Bhaban, Sivasagar on Sunday.

The press meet was held to highlight about the progress of NRC update work. The Deputy Commissioner assured people not to have any fear about the NRC and appealed to them to maintain peace. He also warned that anyone found provocating innocent people regarding the NRC process would not be spared. Senior officials, social organization representatives, senior citizens and media persons were also present in the meeting and exchanged valuable views regarding the issue.
