Administrative work hit by strike in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Jan 21: The administrative work in Sivasagar district was badly affected for the second consecutive day on Thursday as the Sivasagar district committee of the All Assam District Administrative Employees’ Association (AADAEA) launched a two-day strike from January 20 in support of their various demands.

As part of the strike, the administrative employees of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, SDO (C), zira and Sori and all the seven Revenue Circles in the district stayed away from work.

Maintaining that the employees have made the strike a grand success, AADAEA Sivasagar district president Nekib Ullah said that the central committee of the association had talked to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on November 28, 2015 about their demands, to which he assured them of hiking their grade pay by three per cent from January 1, but no steps had been taken towards that end as yet. “We have not received our arrears of the last election duty and arrears of 27 months as per the revised pay scale. We want all our demands to be fulfilled soon, failing which we will launch another agitation from February 1 to February 3,” said Nekib Ullah.
