After 9 yrs RH Khan dismissed from service

GUWAHATI, May 19: Old sins cast a long shadow. A long nine years after his arrest on May 30, 2009 in connection with the Bashishtha police station, Guwahati case (170/09), Raj Bhawan has ordered the dismissal of the then Social Welfare Department’s CDPO and in-charge Deputy Director, NC Hills, Md Redaul Hussain Khan from service.

According to the order issued from Raj Bhawan on May 17, 2018, Khan was arrested on the ground that he had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with other persons, and in pursuance of the criminal conspiracy, he, by abusing his official power/position, had fraudulently and dishonestly misappropriated government funds amounting to Rs 17,24,17,200 from various development schemes of Agriculture Department, NC Hills. This, according to the order, caused huge wrongful loss to the government to the tune of Rs 17,24,17,200 and corresponding wrongful personal gain.

The Special NIA Court convicted Khan in NIA case No. RC-01/2009/NIA/DLI (DHD-J). The court found him guilty under Section 120(B) IPC and Section 17 of UA(P) Act, and sentenced him to imprisonment of ten years with a fine of Rs 25,000 and 12-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 under Section 27 of UA(P) Act.

The then SP, NIA B.O. Guwahati had requested the government on May 31, 2017 to initiate departmental action against Khan.

The file of Khan was endorsed to the Judicial Department and Legal Remembrancer on October 24, 2017 with a view to removing/dismissing him from service.
