Agatha to contest from South Tura

SHILLONG, Oct 20: If everything goes as per plan, Agatha K Sangma, the youngest daughter of late Purno A Sangma, will contest the ensuing Assembly polls from the coveted South Tura constituency on a tiol People’s Party (NPP) ticket. 
Agatha has applied for a ticket from the NPP to contest from South Tura constituency.  
The South Tura constituency was briefly held by late PA Sangma in 2008, before he decided to go back to the Lok Sabha for the eighth time.
After a brief sabbatical from politics, Agatha has this time decided to join the electoral fray again. 
“Yes, she had applied for the party ticket from Tura South constituency and her nomition will be based on the scrutiny to be carried out by the party’s state election committee,” Agatha’s brother and NPP legislator James K Sangma confirmed to The Sentinel on Friday. 
It has been learnt that there is no aspirant from the NPP from South Tura constituency.
Tura South seat is currently being represented by Independent legislator John Leslee Sangma.
On being asked about Agatha’s latest interest after a brief hiatus from politics, the NPP leader said that it is her persol decision. 
Agatha could not be reached reach for comments despite repeated attempts. However, an NPP insider said that the youngest daughter of the former Lok Sabha Speaker wanted to help her brothers to fulfill the dreams of her late father by contesting the polls.
