Election will be held for five posts

GUWAHATI, May 6: The Annual General meeting of the Gauhati Sports Association will be held in its office premises on Sunday. The meeting will constitute its new committee for the next two years terms.

This year, the AGM of Gauhati Sports Association has already become a hot topic for discussion in the local sports circuit as several candidates have come forward to contest in the election. Although few nomition papers were withdrawn today but still five posts are left where election will be held on Sunday and these are -President, Vice President (General, 2 posts), Vice President (Education, 1 post), Assistant General Secretary (2 posts) and Cricket secretary (1 post). Munin Nobis, the current president, will have to face the challenge of Dilip Shankar Saikia for the post of president. Three candidates-bab Ali, Amarendra th and Ranjan Kumar Medhi will be contested for the Vice President posts (general, 2 posts) while Kartick Phukan and Dr Rukmini Borah will contest for Vice President post (education, 1 post). Three candidates-Debabish Bose, Raj Kakoti and Dhrubajyoti Kalita are in the fray for the Assistant General Secretary posts. On the other hand Mukut Kalita will fight against Ranjit Kumar Sarma for the post of Cricket secretary.

The candidates whom are selected unimously are: Bhola Boro (General Secretary), Pradip Hazarika (Joint Secretary), Zairul Haq (Treasurer), L Prab Singh (Football secretary ), Kamini Sarma (Basketball secretary), Amba Saikia Patgiri (Volleyball secretary), L Hemanta Singh (Badminton secretary), AHM Ali (Table Tennis secretary), Moslehuddin Ahmed (Athletic secretary) and Kajal Paul Choudhury (Hockey secretary)
