AGP activists block NH 37, demand repair of roads

GAON, August 13: The AGP activists in gaon on Thursday blocked the tiol Highway 37 to demand speedy of the road along with other roads of gaon which are in a deplorable condition for the last couple of years.

The AGP gaon district unit on Thursday demonstrated in Puranigudam area against the deplorable condition of the roads and at about 11 am the activists blocked the NH 37 for one-and-half hour. Slamming the ruling Congress in the State and BJP at the Centre, they raised slogans against both the Central and State governments and claimed that both the governments failed to fulfil the basic requirements of the people. The AGP said that most of the Congress ministers, APCC president Ajan Dutta and even Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi usually travel through the NH 37 which had potholes. But the government did not bother to repair the road.

The AGP also criticize the BJP government at the Centre for their u-turn from the poll promises. The party according to AGP was not interested with the issues of Assam while their aim was only to win polls. The AGP unit later submitted a memorandum to the gaon Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate repair of the roads.
