AGP is a shameless & hypocrite party, says Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati: Lashing out strongly against the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Thursday, former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi during a press meet at Rajiv Bhawan, Guwahati claimed that the three AGP leaders had also left behind Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for the sake of power and cabinet ministerial posts.

Gogoi claimed that the BJP-led by RSS is trying to destroy the regional party AGP under the supervision of State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP President Ranjit Dass.

“The leaders of AGP are power hungry people; they have not only played with the emotions of the people of Assam for the sake of power but have also played with the ideologies of the AGP party. Both BJP and AGP have cheated the people of the region,” said Tarun Gogoi while the press conference.

Gogoi also tagged Asom Gana Parishad as shameless and hypocrite party. “Such kind of party doesn’t exist in any part of the world,” added Gogoi.

Gogoi while speaking about the chances of Congress coming back to power in the centre, said, “AGP knew it clear that they cannot lead the party in the forthcoming elections without the support of BJP, therefore, they have re-formed the alliance ahead of the elections. Congress will surely come back to power."

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s popularity has gone above Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is no Modi wave alike in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, claimed the former Chief Minister of Assam.

Also, talking about the alleged syndicate raj operating in the state, Gogoi alleged that BJP party is illegally operating a syndicate raj in cement, sand etc in the region under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
