AGP launches mass signature campaign

Batadrava, May 20: With the protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, gaining momentum throughout the State, the Batadrava wing of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) also began collecting signatures from the mass people against the bill. The campaign was formally launched by Mamoni Borah, a senior leader of AGP at Dolongghat on Thursday. The campaign was organized in places like Jamuguri, Kakamari and Jajori.

Asom Yuva Parishad Nagaon district secretary Ranjan Borah and joint secretary Biswajyoti Mahanta joined the campaign at Jajori on Saturday where people from all walks of life put their signatures strongly opposing the bill. While talking to media, Nagaon district joint secretary of Asom Yuva Parishad, Biswajyoti Mahanta said, “This bill will definitely destroy the identity of the indigenous people of the State. It is not acceptable under any circumstance. We have already collected above 8,000 signatures in just two days and expect it to reach 30,000 by May 28.”
