Bongaigaon, April 12: “This time we will go and interact with the people of Assam and try to understand their sentiments, to solve their problems. Most of the people of Assam are still uware about the massive scams and loot done by Congress government in their last three sessions. We will tell about these scandals to the people of Assam so that they do not cast a single vote in favour of the Congress,” said Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora on Sunday at a workers’ meet held at District Library, Bongaigaon.

Bora said that though the Congress allegedly indulged in corruption ever since they formed the government in the State, they still won for the third time in 2011. “This means we failed to make the people aware about these scams. Media also did not give us proper support to focus on these scams. But this time we have realized our target and hence we will interact with the people directly,” said the AGP president.

The workers’ meet can be seen as the AGP’s preparations for the 2016 assembly polls. The programme started with a bike rally from Tulungiya area of Abhayapuri subdivision of Bongaigaon district which moved throughout the district and culmited at Paglasthan of Bongaigaon town. Just after the bike rally, a mass rally was taken out from Paglasthan to Bongaigaon District Library. Several leaders of the party including Prafulla Mahanta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Bhupen Ray and all MLA of the party were present in the programme.

Addressing the workers, Prafulla Mahanta said that AGP would form government in Assam after the assembly election in 2016. “We do not have to worry aboutthe results of the last parliamentary election. The people of India wanted a change in Delhi that time and rendra Modi was the best altertive for them. But in 2016 assembly election, the sentiment and emotion will be different. The people of Assam are fed up of all the scams, scandals and corruption of the Congress government. They have also realized that the Modi government failed to keep the promises made before the parliamentary election. The people know that only AGP will dedicate itself for the people of Assam. This is something about a region and regiol sentiment will always be preferred. We just have to do try to find a solution to the burning problems of Assam. Few of our workers were disillusioned after the last poll results. But the result we got in Bongaigaon in the last municipality election has inspired all the workers of AGP,” the former Chief Minister said.
