AGP to announce seat sharing arrangement with BJP on Feb 17

Jorhat, February 14: Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) president Atul Borah on Sunday said the party would make their announcement on seat sharing arrangements with Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly polls on February 17.

Addressing a party meeting at Dergaon Legislative Assembly constituency, Borah said, “We have called an executive meeting of our party in Guwahati on February 17 to discuss some matters related to the forthcoming assembly polls. In the meeting we will take the fil decision on seat sharing arrangements with BJP and after the meeting we will make it public.”

Borah, who was accompanied by former party president Brindabon Goswami, also said that talks were on and they were heading in a positive direction, but the announcement would be made after getting a unimous decision from the party leaders.

In the meeting, senior AGP leader Brindabon Goswami said that there was serious need for regiol politics in Assam in order to solve the burning issues of the State. “The future of regiol politics in Assam is still bright. Most of the people in the State still believe in regiol politics in order to get a solution to their issues,” said Goswami.

The meeting was organized by the party workers of AGP at Dekagaon on the outskirts of Jorhat town.  Over 3,000 people from different parts of both Jorhat and Golaghat districts took part in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by AGP Dergaon LAC president Gauri Bhuyan.
