AGP urges Dhubri DC to stop cattle smuggling

DHUBRI, June 27: A delegation of Dhubri district unit of Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) led by district president Bidhayak Chakraborty and senior party leader Ranendra rayan Bhattacharjee met Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Dhiraj Choudhury on Tuesday and urged upon him to stop cattle smuggling to Bangladesh through the porous and riverine area of the district.
Delegation pointed out that a large number of cattle from different parts of the country were being smuggled out to the neighbouring country in broad daylight though the Indo-Bangladesh border of Dhubri district.
 “It is very unfortute that despite presence of security forces and law enforcing agencies across the district, this illegal transportation of cattle to the district being carried and also subsequently being smuggled out to Bangladesh,” resented president of AGP Dhubri district unit, Bidhayak Chakraborty.
He urged upon the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate steps to stop this illegal trade cattle smuggling through the porous border of Dhubri district.
The delegation also submitted memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner urging him to take protection measures in the Dhubri-Gauripur Road in view of flood and rising water level of the river, water stagtion in Shantigar area of Dhubri town and installation of me plate of Srimanta Sankardev Sishu Udyan, which was damaged in the storm recently.
Deputy Commissioner Dhiraj Choudhury gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to take action at the earliest, senior AGP leader Rarendra rayan Bhattacharjee informed.
