AGP wants Centre to reconsider decision on oil field auction

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 27: Despite being a coalition partner of the BJP-led Government at Dispur, the Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) has raised its voice against the Centre’s move to auction as many as 12 oilfields of Assam. AGP general secretary Kamala Kalita today requested the government at the Centre to reconsider its decision to auction the oilfields of the State. “We’ve all along been opposing the move to auction the tural resources of the State to private companies. The people of Assam and various organizations of the State are also against the tural resources of the State being owned by private companies. We request the Centre not to do anything that irks the people of Assam. We, therefore, request the Centre to reconsider its decision,” Kalita said.
