Agri officer granted bail

MORIGAON, March 23: Accused agri officer Nihar Ranjan Barua was granted bail on Monday. The officer had been detained at Morigaon Police station since Saturday on charges of stealing of important documents of the technology mission and Horticulture project under the district agriculture office. Nihar Ranjan Barua was caught in red-handed by Morigaon police as he tried to flee away with two bags of confidential files on Saturday. According to information, the extention officer was transferred three months ago to Patharoghat as a subdivisiol agri- officer in Mangaldai district. But,Barua who had overseen the Technology mission and Horticulture project as an nodal-officer for a long time in the office,  did not hand over the said documents to the newly appointed nodal officer, Haren Talukdar despite departmental notices sent to him many times. He tried to flee with the files but was caught by Morigaon Police.  Two cases were separately registered against Barua filed by DO, Jaimal Barman and ADO, Asim Barua.
