Silchar, July 17: Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) which has the distinction of being the third ranked banking institution in the state after SBI and UBI is all set to update its services and make them customer friendly and scientific. This was stated by Sanjaya nda, chairman, AGVB, during his meet with the customers and senior citizens at the reception hall of a hotel here on Saturday. The bank has also the highest number of branches unmatched by any other leading banking institutions, he added to say. He felt proud at the fact that around 2 lakh self help groups (SHG) are engaged in banking with AGVB.
Speaking about the future planning for update, nda said priority will be on mobile banking. There are 54 branches across the state, of them 24 are in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts. The chairman also spoke of ATM services, e-commerce system and all other banking facilities covered by any leading bank. According to him, AGVB will be given a competitive face and in tune with the fast changing technological advancement and innovation. More the services are made customer and eco-friendly, greater the benefits.
Sanjaya nda laid stress on social responsibility of all his staff and employees from higher to the lower rank to provide the best of services. It is a two prong strategy to help the customers and do business without any hitch or glitch. Ultimately, without profit, no bank can be expected to function and move forward. It is a testimony to the ever increasing trust of people that in Barak Valley alone Assam Gramin Vikash Bank has 24 branches highest than any other bank.
For hassle free services and to be fed with customers’ views and opinions, grievance cell in major branches and complaint register in others have been kept ready. The chairman expressed his confidence that the banking services will further improve to attract more customers. Sarif Uz Zaman Laskar, director, AGVB, chief-guest on the occasion, also shared his views with the citizens and media-persons. Among the other leading citizens present were Paresh Dutta, editor, Dainik Prantojyoti, Dr. Dipendu Das, Head, Department of English, and Dr. Mabendra Dutta Choudhury, Head, Department of Life Science, Assam University, and Bibhas Ranjan Choudhury, educationist.
