Ahom Sena president Rontu Hazarika dies in motorcycle accident

DIGBOI: The cheers of Holi turned unholy in Digboi during the second half of the day following the unexpected death of a youth leader Rontu Hazarika, the president of Tinsukia District unit of Ahom Sena here on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased Hazarika who hails from Golai area under Digboi Police Station was returning home on his motor cycle (AS23 J 7747) after celebrating Holi when he lost control over his bike and fell from it sustaining apparently a minor head injury that proved fatal little later and died on the spot.

“In a bid to avoid a boy on the road from being hit, the biker lost control and fell off the ground initially without much physical injury on his body but breathed his last little later along the road itself,” informed an eye witness adding, “the immediate death might have been caused due to internal head injury,” suspected the eye witness. Meanwhile, the tragic and unexpected demise of a youth leader spread like conflagration and dampened the festive spirits among people of the Oiltown Digboi. An active leader of Ahom Sena, Late Hazarika was accorded adequate floral tribute here this afternoon by various students and socio cultural organisations and wide tribute and homage was paid.
