Aid to victims delayed: Shimray

IMPHAL March 20:  The deputy speaker of the Manipur ASssembly Presso Shimray is not happy that there is inordite delay in giving finial solatium to the next of the kin of the 3 persons who died in a road accidents and other seriously wounded bus passsengers who were of a wedding party. The accident took place on March 13. One girl from Jeami in Manipur was married to a boy in Phek district of galand. The wedding party was returning from Phek on the fateful day in a bus of the galand State Transport when the bus plunged into a deep gorge.

Most of the injured persons were admitted in the Phek district hospital. Later they were brought to Imphal for better medical attention.

As regards the demand for fincial assitance the chief minister Okram Ibobi said that there is no government policy on giving such assistances to the accident victims. However he said that the government was exploring means to dole out the assistances.
