Aimed at curbing crime, police-citizen meeting held

Batadrava, Feb11: With a view to curbing crime in Manipurtup region of Roha, to create awareness among the society and to prevent anti-social elements from creating nuisance , the Village Defense Party under Roha Police Station conducted an  a joint awareness meeting between police and citizens of Manipurtup area.

The meeting was held at Manipurtup high School premises on Friday. The programme was presided over by Abdul Hashim, Head teacher of Manipurtup High School, and Devraj Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police gaon, Circle Inspector of Batadrava Police Circle, Ranjit Moran, district adviser of VDP, Nuruddin Ahmed, and Officer in-charge of Raha Police Station, Yashobonto th attended the meeting with a large number of conscious citizens of Manipurtup.

The purpose of the meeting was conveyed by VDP secretary Bulbul Hussain. Speaking on the occasion, SP Devraj Upadhyay said, “To create a crime-free and healthy society, the people should cooperate with the police administration.” He also urged the locals of Manipurtup to report any suspicious, illegal or unlawful activity immediately to police. Manipurtup area is being used by some anti-social groups for theft, robbery, illegal trading and other unlawful activities.
