Air India Cabin Crew Fells down from Aircraft, Receives Severe Injury

An Air India cabin crew, Harsha Lobo, fell from a Boeing 777 aircraft on Monday morning. The accident took place while the cabin crew member was opening the door of the aircraft. The aircraft was parked in the apron area of the Mumbai airport. Harsha received severe injuries on being falling down from a height of about 30 feet.

It was an Air India flight AI864 that was scheduled to depart for Delhi at 7 am. Aircraft authority says, "During pre-boarding, she went to open the L5 door of the Boeing 777 to allow the step ladder to align with the door. There was a gap and in the process of opening the door, she slipped and fell onto the tarmac. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.”

Harsha received severe injury on her right leg as it had to bear the brunt of the fall.

Confirming the accident, an Air India spokesperson stated, "The cabin crew is conscious. She fell while closing the door of B777 ER at 6.10 am. She has been admitted to the Nanavati hospital. The matter is under investigation."

She later underwent a CT scan at the hospital. The source said that as per the report, "Her right leg has a fracture."
