Air Marshal RD Mathur stresses importance of aerospace safety during his visit to Air Force Station Jorhat

Tezpur: Air Marshal RD Mathur AVSM, VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command arrived on a two-day visit to Air Force Station Jorhat on May 21 to chair the Eastern Air Command Aerospace Safety Seminar. He was welcomed by Air Commodore SK Verma VSM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jorhat.

The Aerospace Safety Seminar, an annual event of the Eastern Air Command, was conducted to review the flight safety statistics and strengthen measures that would enhance safety upon operations. The Air Marshal stressed the importance of aerospace safety in the field of aviation. He urged all the participants to spread awareness and responsibility of contributing towards improving aerospace safety and facilitate hazard free flying operations. He later reviewed the operational readiness of various units of the station and inspected the vital installations along with ongoing development works. In the interactive session with the station personnel, the Air Marshal appreciated their diligence and dedication to duty. Further, he lauded the station for its excellent effort in safeguarding Indian airspace in Eastern Sector and providing succour to the far flung areas of the North East.

Shipra Mathur, president of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional), was received at Jorhat by Alka Verma, president of AFWWA (Local). Shipra Mathur presided over a meeting with ‘Vayu Sanginis’ of the air base and showed keen interest in welfare activities of the station. She appreciated the role of Sanginis in shouldering the responsibilities at home to enable the Air Warriors to give their best in the service of the nation. She urged the Sanginis to participate and learn new skills through various AFWWA ventures as it would help them develop their personality. She also visited Umeed Vidya Kiran School being run for underprivileged children by the station.
