AIR to host musical radio reality show in Shillong

SHILLONG, Feb 7: The North Eastern Service of All India Radio in its endeavor to promote and tap the unheard tunes of NE culture as well as to bring to the limelight the untapped musical talents of the region, has re-introduced the musical radio reality show ‘NE Body Can Sing’ 2016 which will be held on February 11, at Aurobindo Hall here. Addressing a press conference in the city on Tuesday, Deputy Director General (Engineering) AIR, Shillong, Hiran Chandra Debth said that with the grand success and popularity of the reality show ‘NE Body Can Sing’ in 2014, it was felt that that this year competition will have two categories. He informed that first category is competition of solo modern song in vercular language/dialect of the respective state of North East Zone (Non-film) and the second is a competition on western music (Solo). The prelimiry rounds in selecting the filists in the two categories from each states of Northeast have been conducted by respective Capital AIR stations. Debth further informed that the filist in each category from each state will be competing for the 1st and 2nd prize in the Grand File scheduled to be held on February 11 from 4.30PM to 7.30PM. It may be noted that seven filists in the modern song category have been selected from different states in the NE and five filists in the western music category have been selected.  The winner will bag Rs. 1 lakh and the runners-up will take home Rs. 50000.
