Ajeevika and Kaushal Vikas Diwas celebrated in city

SHILLONG, May 5: As part of the nation-wide celebration, the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS), a nodal agency of the Department of Community and Rural Development of Meghalaya (C&RD), celebrated the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’s Ajeevika and Kaushal Vikas Diwas at NEHU Convention Centre in Shillong on Saturday.
Speaking during the inaugural address as chief guest, C&RD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said every member of the Self Help Groups (SHG) and Village Organizations (VO) needs to work in cooperation for the success of their ventures.
Dhar further insisted the members of the SHGs and VOs to perform their work patiently and be able to endure difficulties in order to become successful.
He also said that the members of SGH and VO should seek help from the authorities concerned to meet their demands. 
In her keynote address, CEO of Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS) IR Sangma listed several schemes and programmes initiated by the Central government, including the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, and said that the schemes were aimed at bringing social harmony, women empowerment and development of the villagers by improving their livelihood. Awards were also given to best performing Self Help Groups (SHG), Village Organizations (VO) and individual small firms on the occasion, besides distribution of sanction orders for the release of Community Investment Funds (CIF) to 17 Village Organizations during the inaugural session.
