AJYCP flays OIL's alleged indifference to local populace

From our Staff Correspondent

Dibrugarh, January 30: The district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) in a memorandum submitted to the Resident Chief Executive of Oil India Limited (OIL) recently, demanded the authorities to act on matters relating to selling of OIL shares and the termition of Man Magement Contract (MMC) system, and also fervently opposed the unjust engagement of an outsider to an elevated post of Chairman-cum-Maging Director by disregarding the standing of an Assamese candidate.

The president and general secretary of AJYCP, Ranjit Das and Homen Borgohain, respectively, have even accused the OIL authorities of not complying with the claim of the organization to give 100 per cent appointment to local youths.

In a press communiqué, Das and Borgohain expressed their shock over the OIL authorities’ continued disregard towards the needs and problems of the local populace. The lack of social development under the OIL domited regions proves the indifference of the authorities to develop the same. In spite of repeated protests and submission of memoranda by the organization, the OIL industry has never shown any keen interest for the progress of the oil areas, except for carrying out exploration in that areas, they said. If the demands are not fulfilled, as stated in a press communiqué by Das and Borgohain, the district unit of AJYCP, would be forced to hinder the explorations of OIL from February 1.
