AJYCP protests against Dibrugarh Municipality Board

Dibrugarh, May 21: The district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba - Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Friday staged a two-hour sit-in at Tha Chariali to protest against the alleged administrative discrepancies in Dibrugarh Municipality Board.
The activists also submitted a five-point memorandum to Deputy Commissioner MS Manivann, which incorporated the changes needed to be necessitated by authorities of DMB within its Municipal Ward areas. The memorandum highlighted the recurrent problems of dilapidated road conditions in town areas. Moreover, it has noticed that footpaths in Cole Road, Marwaripatty and other areas were being used for setting up shops by some business people.
The memorandum even stated how the DMB authorities had failed to carry out the work of cleaning up of all big and small drains of the town that gets overflowed at the time of incessant rainfall. The construction of big flats that do not have a proper draige system may also bring trouble for the town people due to improper draige system, the memorandum added.
The garbage disposal area in Maijan must be shifted to a far of place, outside the town. Furthermore, the youth organization demanded that Maijan and other areas of the town must be freed from harmful pollution. The DMB authorities have been asked to clarify whether the nursing homes and marriage halls of the town had registered parking spaces or not.
The president and secretary of AJYCP, Suman Debth and Pabitra Dutta, respectively, have called upon the DMB authorities to take legal action against all those institutions which do not have necessary parking areas. The tender notifications issued by DMB must also be made public, Debth and Dutta stated.
